Rhinebeck

This piece took flight in the Hudson Valley. Starting with a field recording in Rhinebeck, NY, the piano pattern was added in a late-night session after a disappointing game of Catan. From there, it went to Ecuador and Wisconsin, where cello and guitar were interlaced with the birdsongs and flowing piano. It finally landed in Philadelphia, where it was interwoven with clips from an audio-streamed improvisation in which the Sage Ensemble played with additional birdsongs and stormscapes. After a year of immense isolation, Rhinebeck presents an attempt to reconnect with the outside world and all of its beauty, disappointment, and tumult.
